Oakland Wins it All
|
And that was all she wrote on the 1972 World Series. With a 3-2 victory, the
Oakland 1972 Athletics
swept aside the
Cincinnati 1972 Reds
1-0 and set off a much-anticipated celebration.
"It was a lot of hard work," said winning manager Simyou Lator Engine. "But it was good hard work and a lot of fun along the way."
The Athletics were all business this year, with their eyes fixed squarely on the goal of winning the team's 1st championship. The champs finished the regular season 0-0 and claimed 0th place in the Division 1.
"We had our doubters along the way," series MVP
Ken Holtzman
said with a smile. "But we made them eat crow today."
