The Oakland 1972 Athletics rolled over the Cincinnati 1972 Reds 5-4 at Oakland Coliseum to easily win the 1972 World Series crown.

Oakland 1972 won in a walk and swept the series from the Reds 1-0. It was their 1st championship title.

Winning manager Simyou Lator Engine praised his own club as well as the opposition, calling the Reds "a fine team."

"It wasn't as easy as it looked. We had to play good baseball to beat them," he said. "We always seemed to come up with the key hit at the right time and to make the plays on defense when we had to. That's how you win the World Series."

The Athletics took 0th place in the Division 1 and rounded out the year with a 0-0 record.
